Mbarara Police Intercept 10 Buses Carrying 840 Youths in Late-Night Aim Global Operation

A dramatic pre-dawn security operation unfolded in Mbarara City on Saturday when police and UPDF forces intercepted ten buses loaded with 840 youths suspected to have been mobilized under Aim Global, a scheme authorities have repeatedly warned Ugandans about.

The buses were stopped at the Biharwe checkpoint at around 1 a.m., triggering a full-scale security response. All passengers were escorted under tight surveillance to the Mbarara police playground, where a massive screening exercise is still underway. According to security sources, the youths had been mobilized from multiple districts across the western region and were allegedly being ferried to Kampala under highly suspicious circumstances. Each of the buses was reportedly paid UGX 2.5 million for the night trip, raising further concerns about the purpose and funding behind the operation. Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the movement remain unclear, but preliminary findings point to possible exploitation and illegal recruitment networks tied to the controversial Aim Global scheme. More details are expected as investigations progress.
